High Temperature Extrusion Crossheads for Fiber Optic Cable Production Lines
UNITEK of Austria, represented in North America by Howar Equipment, Concord, Ontario, Canada, manufactures extrusion crossheads specific for the wire and cable industry. Recent successes have been achieved in commissioning extrusion crossheads for a variety of customers in the USA that manufacture fiber optic cables, for tight-buffering, loose tube and jacketing/sheathing extrusion lines.
Customers are impressed that a UNITEK crosshead can be placed on an extruder (after proper alignment) and provide 99% eccentricity right from the start-up and minimal scrap, using the designed fixed center centering capabilities. These crossheads also come with fine centering adjustment mechanics to compensate for changes of catenary droop, wear of crosshead components and other repeatable variances on extrusion concentricity.
