Preliminary Investigation of a High Thermal Stability Polyimide for Magnetic Wire Coatings
A wide variety of polymers are used as wire coatings
ranging from polyolefin commodities, polyamide engineering
polymers, as well as PEEK, PES and other high performance
polymers. At the top of the performance pyramid are
polyamideimides (PAI) and polyimides (PI). At its foundation,
Akron Polymer Systems has expertise in PAI and PI
structure-property relationships. We manufacture a grade of
PI that has higher thermal stability than the leading PI on
the market. This high thermal stability PI is currently being
manufactured at several hundred tons per year for other high
purity, demanding applications. The combination of structureproperty
design and low-cost manufacturing is advantageous
for other growing markets.
