Innovative, High-Voltage Shielded Cable Designed for Electric Vehicles’ Architecture

This innovative cable, a part of the e-COF brand, was specially designed to meet the international standards for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-In-Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). The e-COF POWER+ incorporates the use of two different insulation materials, that ensure:
• High level of flexibility.
• Mechanical and chemical protection of the jacket insulation.
• Better thermal performance, compared to a standard T4 (150°C/3000h) solution.

In electric vehicles, unlike in internal combustion engines, the cables’ heat source comes from the high electric currents that pass through the conductor. Quick changes of speed in electrical vehicles lead to a fast current increase in the conductor and connectors, causing peaks of temperature in the system.
