The future for the sector lies in Mexico’s interior, where we hire up to 100 workers weekly for clients at our manufacturing campus.
It may have started two decades ago. As the oldest Baby Boomers began to retire, the workers with the most skills and experience started walking out the door. Retirement rates only picked up from there. Meanwhile, technological advancements made it harder to recruit new hires with the necessary skills. Finding, keeping, and replacing workers is a proficiency wire harness manufacturers got good at. They had no other choice.
The pandemic made the situation worse from there. There has been a wave of resignations and early retirements since 2020, leaving an already lean workforce positively decimated.
