Increasing Demand for Crosslinked Halogen Free Flame-Retardant Compounds for Solar Application
The cable industry is one of the most challenging markets because of diversified applications that lead to many cable constructions, followed with a market segment with stringent technical demands which are technologically driven. The presented paper will include single and most popular segment as Photovoltaic solar cables. Solar cables are different from typical electric cables. Regula electrical cables would ideally be installed concealed inside walls whereas solar cables are directly exposed to extreme weather conditions. These basic requirements and location of installation are the predominant factors that cause the difference in construction. Cable construction with these combinations demands to withstand extreme conditions and to achieve long service life at continuous operating conditions. Increasing demands for crosslinked solar compound with better fi re resistance performance and low smoke properties meeting BS EN 50618 requirement is of keen interest. Two types of crosslinked materials are commonly used for this kind of application including moisture cured cross linkable compounds and E-beam cross linkable compounds.
