Precision-Engineered Cold Welding Systems Streamline Rod Production & Reduce Power Costs
by Steve Mepsted – PWM Ltd.
Welding nonferrous rod with a cold pressure welding machine has many advantages. It’s easier and quicker than using an electrical butt welder, and cold welders consume less power, making them a more sustainable option. Cold welded rod is very stable and rod quality is excellent. And without heat, flux or fillers, no fumes are generated during the process, making the working environment safer and more pleasant for the operator.
Most nonferrous metals can be cold welded as well as various alloys such as 70/30 brass, zinc, silver and silver alloys, nickel, gold and many others. The cold weld process can also be used to join rod of dissimilar materials, for example, aluminum to copper.
